Great Moai is a lines-based slot which means you win by landing winning combinations on paylines from left-to-right on the reels. You also win when you trigger the bonus through a scatter award by landing 3, 4, or 5 bonus symbols. As is true with many Konami slots, 5-reel hits can pay quite nicely, and the bonus feature greatly improves your odds for that to happen. One thing to notice though is that your total bet includes a provision for 'Extra Features' presumably meaning that you're paying for your bonus feature, essentially. For example, if you're playing 10 lines and betting one credit per line, your total bet will be 15 credits: 1 per line and 5 for your Extra Features. Like many other Konami titles, Great Moai also has the 'Action Stacked Symbols' feature which means before each spin, certain reel positions are randomly transformed to the same symbol, giving you a better chance to 'Fill the Screen' to that symbol, which can be anything but the Wild or Bonus symbol.
Balance & Volatility
All in all, Great Moai seems more weighted on the Bonus Wild Feature, so you really need that to occur randomly during a paid game or during the bonus in order to survive so I would classify this as a somewhat volatile game overall prone to bankroll swings.
Bonus Features
The bonus is triggered by landing 3, 4, or 5 scattered bonus symbols for 8, 12, or 20 free games respectively. During the bonus, the Wild Feature may occur more frequently, although frankly there's no guarantee. That said, I'd like to think you will receive this feature at least once during your free spins. During the Wild Feature, which can occur before or after a spin, you receive a fun animation of Moai figures first randomly landing on the top screen, some of which may be golden. They hop around and jump through to your reels and eventually, they stop hopping and where they land, determines which reels transform completely wild. Golden Moai reels are 2x wilds! In the end, it's just a fun way to award a random number of fully wild reels, though!
